Why I created Sew-Awesome
A little bit about me... well to start with I love bacon and moustaches and of course sewing!
I began sewing when I was about 8 years old. The person who inspired me to start sewing was my Auntie Lynnette who sews amazing costumes. She doesn't live close enough to teach me so my Mom and I found an amazing lady named Judith Radford and I have been sewing with her every Wednesday night since.
I created Sew-Awesome last year, when I was 10. I wanted to use my passion and creativity with sewing to raise money to buy sewing equipment for girls in developing countries. My goal is to be able to travel to these countries to teach girls how to sew and help them start their own sewing business. For every dollar I make with my sewing, I put 50% back into purchasing more supplies, 25% is donated to my charity, Sewing Seeds and I put the remaining 25% into my own bank account for school. Last year I was able to donate over $1,000 to my charity!
I am currently working on expanding my original vision even BIGGER. Cause WE Create, my new business I am working on, will be an online marketplace and community of young creatives who will be supported and taught how to use their passions to begin their own business's, like Sew-Awesome. There will of course be a catch...they too will have to find a charity or a social cause that they can connect and give back to. Stay tuned!
